Wanshoushan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section lies on Wanshoushan, 21 km NNW of Yiliang County Seat, Yunnan. It was named by Bian Zhaoxiang in 1940.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone and Coal. It is composed of light-gray and gray-black quartz sandstones, locally intercalated with purple-red quartz sandstone, siltstone, sandy shale and shale, intercalated with coal seams and coal streaks. The formation is 5−40 m thick, locally reaching a hundred meters.
Along Siying of Songming County to Wanshoushan and Penshuidong of Yiliang County, it is intercalated with 2−3 coal seams, and the maximum thickness of a single layer may reach 3 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact onto the underlying Tangbagou Fm. It is more widespread than the underlying Tangbagou Fm: therefore, it also overlaps the Devonian System in a large range.
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Jiusi Fm. The Dongyou Fm is locally coeval with it.

Honglujiao of Zhaotong City, Xiaofa Road of Yiliang County, Tianshengkan of Zhanyi County, Siying of Songming County, and Wanshoushan, Xiyangtang and Penshuidong of Yiliang County
